Fred Phillips
I was born and raised in Bishop, California, and my passion for airguns started early—when I was 8 years old, Santa Claus (aka Dad) gifted me a Benjamin .177 pumper. I still have that rifle today! Over the years, I’ve also developed a love for collecting vintage Sheridan airguns.
My journey into competitive airgunning began in 2017 with a Brocock Compatto. Shortly after, I picked up my first FX Impact and started making finals, which fueled my passion for precision shooting even more.
In 2023, I began using STUD magazines while looking for a solution that would load pellets straight every time—without any side-to-side wobble. The difference was immediate. In 2024, I proudly joined Team STUD and have been representing the brand ever since.
Current Setup:
-
FX Impact M3 (x2)
-
FX Impact M4
-
FX Panthera
(All tuned for various calibers depending on the match—each one running STUD mags for consistent, repeatable loading performance.)

-
2024 – 10th Place, Extreme Field Target – Arizona

Based in Oceanside, California, I’m a proud husband to my amazing wife Ashley—who graciously tolerates my airgun obsession—and a father to two incredible kids, Van and June.
I'm a competitive air rifle shooter with a deep passion for the sport. At 48, I’ve been shooting most of my life, but my journey into competitive airgun shooting began in 2017 at the Extreme Benchrest (EBR) event in Arizona. As a newcomer back then, I had no idea what to expect—but I was instantly hooked.
Over the past nine years, the airgun community and competition circuit have helped me grow tremendously as a shooter. With dedication and support, I’ve had the opportunity to place well in several events, and in 2023, I celebrated a major milestone by winning the 100-Yard Pellet Benchrest in Oregon.
Airguns I shoot:
-
FX Crown MKII (.25 & .177)
-
FX Impact MKII (.25)
Notable competition results:
-
2018: RMAC Pellet Speed Finalist
-
2021: EBR Pellet Challenge Winner
-
2022: EBR 50-Yard Spring Winner
-
2023: Oregon 100-Yard Pellet Winner
-
2024: Oregon 100-Yard Pellet – 4th Place
-
2025: Oregon Extreme FT – 7th Place
I’m also a proud supporter and user of Stud Mag Loading Solutions, and I truly love being part of this passionate, supportive shooting community.
